My body is rebelling because I let people hit it last night. I started taking jujitsu, and suddenly I couldn't sleep last night, not for lack of trying but just because my eyes wouldn't stay closed. Now I have to work a concert until about 11pm tonight and my eyes have decided that now is a good time to shut themselves.

I'm sorry, body, but you're just going to have to get used to people hitting you. This whole sciopero thing isn't going to fly.

How is it that such hateful people work at non-profits?

Will cook for music

Promoting our Toshi Reagon concert last week led me to experience Park Slope for the first time. It's a little too posh for me, but they have good venues for music, something we lack in Bay Ridge that has led to a musical drought in my apartment. Although Toshi doesn't really sing my kind of music, I'm excited to at least hear something new.

I'm producing BAC's September 11 Memorial Poetry Project which is archiving any poetry written about 9/11. We're doing a recitation of some poems on September 9th, and I accidentally just described the event as "fun" to someone on the phone who was trying to submit poems written by a kid that died from MS six years ago.

God I feel like an idiot sometimes.

avenues of thought

One of my roommates and I decided to force each other to write creatively, so we gave each other a prompt and a week to get out 1-5 pages of words. I'm currently using my limited brain power (spent last night welcoming home a friend from South Korea) to think of other prompts.

Use "So long and thanks for all the fish" as a line. No dolphins.
