I went to a concert at Lincoln Center Out of Doors last night, and was more impressed by the opening act than the headliner. While Jose James would have been much better in a jazz club or a more intimate setting, he could at least sing. The Robert Glasper "Experiment" elected to employ an auto tuner for his vocalist, turning the night into "T-Pain does jazz". I couldn't even concentrate on the other musicians because I was so distracted by the horrible noises coming from the microphone. Can the music world get over the auto-tuner already? If you can't sing, stop trying.
Toshi Reagon's concert was so much better.
